Ng Kian Nam obtained his LLB (Hons) from the University of Malaya in 2004. Prior to joining the legal profession, he was a Senior Researcher with the Institute of Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (INSAP) from 2004-2006. He was then appointed as Press Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Local Government from 2006-2008. His experience in public and government administration enabled him to gain a wide exposure on the Executive and operations of the civil service whilst building up his network with government officers.

Thereafter, he joined Messrs Gan & Zul and Messrs Tan, Chua & Lawrence in Kuala Lumpur and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 22 Jan 2010.

In 2012, he founded his own legal chambers. He is regularly invited by various print and electronic media as a guest interviewee or as a columnist writer to comment and share his legal views in various areas of practice.

Ng Kian Nam is also a litigator with the High Court of Malaya and actively attends to various types of contentious matters at different levels of court ranging from Magistrate Court, Sessions Court, High Court, Court of Appeal to Federal Court especially in the states of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Penang, Pahang, Johor and Terengganu.  Some cases advocated by him also have been regularly reported in local law journals.
