Tan Wan Chin (Wan Chin) graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London in 2003. She completed her chambering with Messrs. Zaid Ibrahim & Co (Penang) and admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 11 November 2011. Thereafter, she ventured into working with several legal firms to broaden her expertise and gain diverse experience in various areas of legal practice, before joining our firm (Penang branch) and leading it’s conveyancing department.
With extensive experience in the legal field, Wan Chin has developed strong expertise in conveyancing matters, sale and purchase of residential/commercial properties in Malaysia for local and foreign clients, direct purchase, bank loan documentation (conventional and Islamic), government loan, refinancing, receipt and reassignment, discharge of charge, and perfection of transfer, and general advisory work to all parties involved in the conveyancing process, administration of estates, will writing, tenancy agreements, and general advisory work. She is also proficient in drafting, vetting, and perusing commercial documents such as supplier agreements, agency agreements, settlement agreements, joint venture agreements, and employment law matters. Additionally, she has handled bankruptcy, winding-up cases, and general litigation, including issuing notices of demand. She is also specializing in Banking Recovery, Motor Insurance Claims, Hire Purchase, Post-Auction Transactions, Probate and Administration of Estates and General Civil Litigation.
Throughout her career, Wan Chin has demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. She has attended numerous seminars and courses, including Leases and Leasehold Land in Penang and Kedah, Conveyancing Practice Seminars on Trust and Properties, Housing Development Conveyances, Seminar on Strata 2012, Cardinal Principles in Interpreting Housing Legislation, The Companies Act 1965-changes in Corporation Law & Legal Practices, Employment Law & Challenges, Handling Dismissal Cases at the Labour Office and Industrial Court, and Protecting the Deal: Mergers and Acquisitions – Risks and Mitigation Strategies. In 2020, she further expanded her expertise by obtaining an Executive Certificate in Islamic Finance from The Global University of Islamic Finance (INCEIF). Wan Chin also actively participates in webinars organized by the Bar Council Malaysia to stay updated on the latest legal developments.
In addition to her legal practice, Wan Chin has shared her knowledge through several public speaking engagements, including a talk on The Importance of Will Writing at the Chin Kang Association Penang.
