LAHVANYA CHANELARA
LLB (Hons) MMU
Lahvanya Chanelara, LL.B (Hons), an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. Her work mainly covers civil litigation, employment law, family matters, and corporate law.
She began her legal journey by completing her Foundation in Law and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at Multimedia University in 2021. During her degree, she gained early practical exposure through internships at Tunku Munawir & Solomon and Harold & Lam Partnership. At Tunku Munawir, Chin & Solomon, she has assisted with legal research, conveyancing documents, and court observations. While at Harold & Lam Partnership, she worked on civil litigation and arbitration matters, particularly in construction and employment disputes. These experiences introduced me to the day-to-day workings of legal practice and gave me hands-on involvement in cases.
She completed her chambering at Liow & Co., where she has assisted in a broad range of civil litigation cases, including probate, intellectual property, company law, and winding-up matters. She was also involved in conveyancing work, such as preparing Sale and Purchase Agreements and Discharge of Charge transactions. Her responsibilities included drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions, contracts, and client correspondence, as well as attending case management and assisting in trial proceedings.
After being called to the Bar in April 2022, she began practice with Law Chambers of Vin Sa & Ian. There, she handled a wide range of civil litigation cases, including employment disputes, debt recovery, bodily injury claims, negligence, tort matters, and shipping law disputes. She represented and advised both individual clients and large corporations, including a major airline company, on employment law issues such as retrenchment and workforce restructuring. She was also part of the small team managing the panelship for a major telecommunications company, overseeing debt recovery, negligence claims, and other litigation matters. Her work included court representation, settlement negotiations, and strategic legal advice.
She then worked with HY Lee & Co., where her practice continues to focus on General Civil litigation and uncontested matters. She handles contested and uncontested divorce cases, Letters of Administration, Probate matters, and contested civil claims. She also prepares and attends hearing interlocutory applications such as injunctions, striking out applications, and summary judgment matters. In corporate and property work, she prepares and reviews commercial contracts and tenancy agreements.
Alongside her legal work, she make it a priority to keep learning and improving.
Now, she joins Ng Kian Nam & Partner, Seremban Branch, as a litigation lawyer specialised in subordinate courts’ contentious matters.
